I get dragged to SCBWI.
My younger sister had been going to SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) meetings for months. And every time she went, she would sing their praises.
"You should go!" she said every time.
"I guess I will," I would reply.
This conversation would repeat itself over and over. But I didn't go. I kept putting it off. I found excuses, delays, and next times. Until finally I went to a meeting.
And that's when I got the bug. Got it bad. And started writing the first chapter of my first novel. And started getting critiques at the SCBWI meetings.
"And just in time," said my sister. "I decided not to mention it to you again."
So that's how I started writing, and more important, completed my first novel.
Why I Write
I always wanted to write. But like thousands who say that, I didn't do anything about it. Not until 2011.What happened in 2011
